Precious Jewels of Christ

“And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels: and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.” Malachi 3 : 17.

The kingdom of heaven is compared to a merchant “who seeks beautiful pearls. He found a pearl of great price; and he went to sell all that he had, and he bought it. ” This parable has a double significance. It applies not only to the man who endeavours to find the kingdom of heaven, but also to Christ, who seeks his heritage. By his transgression, man lost his innocence and was sold to Satan. Christ, the only son of God, engaged to repurchase man paid the ransom on Calvary.

He left the worlds which remained faithful and the society of the holy angels, for he could not be satisfied as long as humanity was far from him. The celestial Merchant deposited his crown and his royal dress. Although Prince and Commandant, he took on him the clothing of humanity, then he came to a world dirtied by the curse to seek the single lost pearl, the man lost by disobedience.

He found his pearl in the dust. Selfishness hardens the human heart and falls under the hand of Satan. But Christ takes it out from the darkness bring forth the praises of ” that which called us from darkness to His wonderful light”. We are brought to make alliance with God, we receive forgiveness and find peace. Jesus discovers the pearl of humanity and inserts it on His own diadem.

He is disposed to communicate hope to the largest sinner and to the depraved man. He says :”A11 that the father giveth me shall come to me ; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6: 37.

When a soul finds his Saviour, he will have joy like that the merchant who found a pearl of great price. By His grace, He will take care of this soul, this heart until His perfect jewel is worthy of the kingdom of heaven.

” For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3 : 16.
