Zambia is a landlocked nation, in the tropics of Southern Africa between the Atlantic and Indian Ocean; it is at the northern edge of the region referred to as “Southern Africa.” While sharing similarities with its neighbours in East and Central Africa, Zambia is divided into 74 districts and nine provinces. The official language is English; the local languages are Bembe, Nyanja, Lozi, Tonga, Kaonde, Lunda, Luvale and 65 more.

The population of Zambia in 2010 was approximately 13,000,000. Immediately after Jesus began to preach the gospel of repentance, He proceeded to call his disciples in order to prepare them to become His coworkers. While walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers working, and He called them to follow Him and become His witnesses. One after another they heeded His call until the disciples were twelve in number. These were to be prepared for the gospel ministry. They had to follow Him, work with Him, and learn from Him.

They had to go from village to village and from house to house to preach the nearness of God’s kingdom with the happy news of the gospel of salvation. The message of liberty needed to be followed with providential healing and even miracles, and so it was. In time the number of disciples increased to seventy-two, and they were also sent to preach in cities and towns. Going in the name of Jesus and with His blessings, their mission had good results and they returned joyously, exclaiming “Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through Thy name.” Luke 10:17

But what are twelve, even seventy-two, witnesses compared with the great harvest of the world? Truly it is a limited number. For this reason, on another occasion, Jesus observed, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.” Matthew 9:37. “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:38

The Zambian Union fields are ripe for harvest, but there is a great lack of workers in the fields. There are 52 out of 72 country districts where we have no workers at all, not even members; these districts are in total darkness regarding the Reformation message. During committee meetings this topic is constantly the object of our discussions. In the 14 country districts, we have 23 churches, 20 companies, and eight branches.  There are 689 baptized members, and more than 2000 interested souls from a total country population of 13,000,000. There were 2085 souls who attended our 2010 Union camp meetings in our four fields. Nine companies have been opened in two years with a very good number of interested souls in these fields: Southwest Zambia, North Zambia, and Southeast Zambia. There are three companies in each Field.

Sincerely,

Your brother in Christ,

Golden Kayawa Hingabantu

Zambian Union President
