“A Wonderful Saviour is Jesus My Lord”

Every time I receive a Reformation Messenger it inspires me to write. But few articles get past the scratch paper. Why is this? Why does my inspiration disappear without much fruit?

The garden can teach much about perseverance. When you start a garden from a weedy-sod area you learn to start small and keep at it. If you can just keep a small patch clear and gradually expand the area – well, in a few years you have a large productive garden that is relatively easy to care for – if you keep at it. (So bear with me in my infancy as a writer.)

Well, can I learn anything from my garden? Does it relate to my spiritual life? Of course we know it does.

Nothing succeeds like success.

The best way to increase faith is to exercise faith.

Now to my spiritual weedy, sod-like self.. Sin is hard to eradicate. It is deep-rooted like thistles. When you least expect them, there they are – just where you thought you had them totally under control. But there are several secrets to win over them.

One – Don’t cut them down. They only come up again , and a thistle has a root many feet deep., so forget digging for them. Wait until they are in full bloom, then pull them. This real1y sets them back and often kills them totally.

Two – Before a heavy rain cut their stems a few inches high and the water will enter the stems and drown them.

Three- Can them. When they appear put a can over them

Spiritual Lessons:

One – Sometimes sin has to come to full bloom in the life before it is really efficient to destroy it. This can be painful, even embarrassing, to have these ugly things in your life until the time is right to effectively eradicate them.

Two – Drown sin with God’s love. Instead of dwelling on it, and mourning over it, drown it with the love and faith and hope and joy. A wonderful Saviour is Jesus My Lord. When I really learn to believe and know that Jesus wants to save me and that He is more than Able and Willing to see me through to the end, and is tota11y able to give me final victory, if I exercise trust In Him and pray without ceasing, sin ceases to appear desirable, it ceases to exist.

Three-Some sins die from lack of attention.. The less you fuss with them or see them the better.

AMEN
