The Lord’s Coming

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
24:37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking. marrying and giving in marriage. until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
24:39 And knew not until the flood came. and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken. and the other left.
24:41 Two [women shall be] grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
24:43 But know this, that if the Goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

Let every soul be on the alert. The adversary is on your track. Be vigilant, watching diligently lest some carefully concealed and masterly snare shall take you unawares. Let the careless and indifferent beware lest the day of the Lord come upon them as a thief in the night. … {AG 332.3}

Paul speaks of a class to whom the Lord’s appearing will come unawares. “The day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, . . . and they shall not escape.” But he adds, to those who have given heed to the Savior’s warning, “Ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Y e are all the children of light, and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” [1 TRESS. 5:2-5.] {GC88 371.1

We must not let the coining of the Lord surprise us We must be always ready for Him or else His coming will surprise us. We should not let ourselves become sleepy. We must watch day and night for the signs of His coming that we will be ready for it or it will overtake us as a thief in the night.

The end is near, stealing upon us stealthily, imperceptibly, like the noiseless approach of a thief in the night. May the Lord grant that we shall no longer sleep as do others, but that we shall watch and be sober. The truth is soon to triumph gloriously, and all who now choose to be laborers together with God, will triumph with it. The time is short; the night soon cometh when no man can work. . .. {Mar 27.1 }

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.

We must watch for His coming with earnest prayer, for our human nature is very weak.
AMEN.
